Strathisla Distillery

Welcome to the oldest operating distillery in the Highlands

Experience the age-old craft of whisky making at first hand. Dating from 1786, much of the buildings have changed little, from the old cobbled courtyard to the distinctive double pagodas, making it one of the most picturesque distilleries in Scotland.

The Story of Chivas Regal

SPEYSIDE IS A MAGICAL PLACE with a unique natural environment that makes it the perfect location to produce the smooth, rounded malt whiskies that lie at the heart of the Chivas Regal blend. One of the most important of these Speyside malts is Strathisla.

This fine single malt has always been essential to ensure the rich and generous taste of Chivas Regal. This, and many other fine malts from throughout Scotland, such as The Glenlivet, are brought together with the highest quality grain whiskies to produce Chivas Regal 12.

James and John Chivas never actually owned the distillery themselves. It was only later, in 1950, after many twists and turns, that the company was finally able to purchase the distillery - safeguarding the precious stocks of Strathisla single malt whisky for Chivas Regal.
