Strathclyde

Strathclyde distillery was built in1927 by Seager Evans on the South bank of the river Clyde, Approximately 1 mile southeast of the city centre. As with most of the large grain distilleries information is difficult to obtain. Seager Evans was purchased by the American firm Shcenley Industries in 1956 and placed the distillery under the control of Long John Distilleries who managed Schenley’s Scottish whisky portfolio. Kinclaith Distillery History within Strathclyde Distillery 1957-1975. Long John built the Kinclaith malt distillery within the Strathclyde plant n 1957. The distillery operated a pair of pot stills and produced a slightly smoky full-bodied Lowland Malt whisky. Most of the malt whisky produced went in to the Long John Blend. Kinclaith was the last malt distillery built in Glasgow.
